Breastfeeding in public is always a popular topic in the press, online and across social media. In fact, there always seems to be a story about mums feeding while out and about. Thankfully we do tend to see more positive stories than negative…

Totally inspiring, well done mums!
However, breastfeeding in public still makes many new mums feel apprehensive about going out with their newborn, especially while alone. We are determined to help make breastfeeding in public that little bit easier and hope that one day mums won’t even give it a second thought!
You may remember that during last year’s National Breastfeeding Week we were delighted to reveal the results from our ongoing search into some of the UK’s breastfeeding friendly hotspots. Our search saw more than 300 restaurants and cafes contacted across major cities in the UK. A great collection of independent cafes came out on top but it was especially promising to see popular restaurant chain, Pizza Express leading the way with its family friendly approach to breastfeeding.
This year, we are delighted to take this research one step further as we launch our brand new Breastfeeding Friendly Window Stickers. This month we will be sending our Medela Breastfeeding Friendly Stickers to over 500 popular restaurants and cafes across the UK.
The idea is simple, if the establishment is baby and breastfeeding friendly then its team will display our sticker in their front window, reassuring mums passing by that they can breastfeed in total comfort and be welcomed with open arms.
Breastfeeding is one of the most natural things in the world and offers incredible benefits for not only baby but mums too. It is important that breastfeeding is normalised in society to ensure mums feel comfortable to stop and feed wherever they may be. We hope our window stickers help to encourage more breastfeeding while out and about and become a reassuring symbol for mums nationwide!
Is your local cafe or restaurant breastfeeding friendly? If so please pop us an email at email@example.com and we’ll be delighted to pop a Medela Breastfeeding Friendly Window Sticker in the post! If you spot one of our stickers in your local town centres please do take a photo and share with us on social media, using the hashtag #BreastfeedingFriendly
